About Viking Sea
Expand your horizons on comfortable, state-of-the-art ships, intimate and thoughtfully created by experienced nautical architects and designers to enrich your interaction with your destination in every way.
EXPLORER'S LOUNGE The notion of civilized camaraderie in elegant surroundings is what inspired us to create the Explorers' Lounge, where fellow travelers can share their latest adventures. It is the perfect setting to celebrate firsts, whether glimpsing your first fjord or savoring Aquavit. With two-story panoramic windows for maximum views, this is the perfect place to relax and take in the scenery.
CULINARY EXPERIENCES Our ships offer multiple restaurant venues and unique dining experiences, from casual cafes and pool grills to wine-pairing menus and regional specialties. You can indulge your senses at our most refined venue, The Restaurant. Savor the rustic Tuscan cuisine of Manfredi's Italian Restaurant. Sample a delicious array of global and destination-based cuisine at the World Cafe, featuring live cooking stations and al fresco dining. And so much more.
THE VIKING LIVING ROOM The ideal setting for relaxation and conversation, The Viking Living Room draws guests together. Spacious seating, melodic piano tunes, live entertainment and planned activities foster rich camaraderie. And its well-curated Viking Library informs even the best-read traveler. Adorned with nautical touches from Viking days, including the clinker-built bar inspired by ancient longships, it is the most inspired living room at sea.
ENTERTAINMENT Our main theater features live performances that bring you closer to the culture of our destinations. We also pull back the curtains of our destinations with cinema in our two movie theaters, which show first-run films as well as destination-driven classics. Our theaters are always buzzing with fresh insights from our enrichment talks featuring the history, art, culture and upcoming ports. To keep you in comfort, we have banished uncomfortable theater seating in favor of soft and spacious sofa seating.
POOLS & SPA Swim surrounded by your destination in the glass-backed Infinity Pool cantilevered off the stern. Or experience our Main Pool, complete with a retractable roof, so you can always enjoy the perfect swim. Here, on star-filled nights, enjoy an outdoor movie as you sail under a canopy of stars. And when it is time to relax, try the ultimate Scandinavian tradition with our Snow Grotto and sauna; or a massage in The Spa.
WINTERGARDEN When you yearn for serenity, there is no better place on ship than a visit to the Wintergarden. This charming, airy space around the main pool is perfect for relaxing in clean, uncluttered Scandinavian-designed environment. Even here, our focus is on enrichment, as this is the place to witness a tea ceremony, or indulge in an afternoon tea service, complete with hand-selected teas, finger sandwiches and pastries.
A Caribbean Cruise is a dream vacation for many travelers but now you can make it a reality and embrace everything that this colorful part of the world has to offer. The Caribbean is covered in beautiful beaches that back on to crystal clear turquoise waters and you will get the chance to experience some of the best diving in the region. The waters teem with vibrant aquatic life and you can also enjoy brightly hued coral reefs or just relax on the white sands if you prefer.
One of the big draws for many visitors is the chance experience the laid-back culture for which the Caribbean is so famous, and this coupled with some of the best natural scenery in the world makes it an opportunity not to be missed.
You can enjoy a range of both onboard and onshore activities and one of the great highlights of a cruise is the number of activities on board the ship that will give you an insight into the local culture. Feel the beat of the famous music scene at a range of venues during the cruise, and take part in Caribbean themed danced classes and relax and unwind with some delicious traditional dishes and drinks. If you haven’t visited this fascinating part of the world before then a cruise is the best way to immerse yourself in the very best that the Caribbean has to offer.
About Viking Ocean Cruises
Viking Ocean Cruises is the sister company to Viking River Cruises and offers larger ships with a wider range of amenities. They have some 11 different dining venues as well as a Nordic spa and several swimming pools. If you want to relax with a cocktail then there are also a number of cocktail lounges on board or you can spend time taking in the views from the promenade deck which skirts around the ship.
Anyone who wants to keep fit while on a cruise can use the sports deck or the onboard fitness center but you should note that there are no casinos and no kids’ clubs or activities for younger guests. This means that Viking is a great choice for solo travelers and couples and all cabins come with their own balcony so that you can take in the sea breeze in comfort.
Ships are decorated in the Nordic style so you can expect an array of natural touches as well as plenty of natural light that will make you feel as if you are on land rather than bobbing on the ocean. When the ships do stop in port however, you can expect shore excursions to be longer than those offered by many other cruise companies so you get to spend more time discovering different fascinating destinations.
About San Juan, Puerto Rico Port
Puerto Rico is known for being one of the most famous cruise ports in the world and San Juan is truly the jewel in its crown. If you want to go for a leisurely cruise around the Caribbean, then this is a great place to start, and Puerto Rico is also a territory of the United States, making travel here a breeze. Many people don’t realize that Puerto Rico was once visited by none other than Christopher Columbus, so if you are interested in history, then this makes a great place to start or end your cruise. Anyone who wants to get out and about in nature will also love San Juan, as you can visit El Yunque National Forest, which is the only forest of its kind located in a US territory and is famed for its gorgeous climbing trails. As if that wasn’t enough, if you prefer to spend your time relaxing on the sand, then Puerto Rico is known for its beaches, or you can also check out the bright nightlife in areas such as Fortaleza Street which is known for its bars and shops. You can then walk around Castillo de San Cristobal which is an ancient fort in the city that lets you look out across the stunning Atlantic Ocean.

Peak season in the Caribbean is usually from December to April as this is when the weather is less humid and a little cooler. This is also the busiest season so if you want to avoid the crowds then you may want to consider visiting from April to May.
Yes. Hurricane season is usually from September to October although heavy rain can often start as early as June. You can still join a cruise at this time however and if there is a hurricane then the ship will usually simply change course to avoid it. Passenger safety is paramount and staff will monitor all weather systems and take appropriate action if necessary.
Different people have different reactions to being on a ship and motion sickness can be a problem. If you are worried about seasickness however then a cruise is an excellent choice as the waters in the Caribbean are known for being mostly calm which should greatly reduce your chances of feeling unwell.
As the weather in the Caribbean is warm you do not need to pack many extra layers, although you may want to bring a light sweater or jacket for all eventualities. Many guests opt to bring shorts, light long sleeved clothing, and a range of swimwear. Also think about packing some good walking shoes for any onshore excursions.
Cruise Line FAQ
Yes. Wi-Fi is complementary on ships.
Yes. Complimentary beer and wine is severed during both lunch and dinner.
There is no formal dress code, which makes it different from many other cruise lines. As such the dress code is casual in the daytime and smart-casual in the evening although formal wear is not required.
This depends very much on your destination. As a general rule you should pack lots of layers and bring all essential items such as medications, toiletries, sunglasses, and good walking shoes.
